Tasks

The Paste functions have now been improved making it easier to copy and paste data into the Tasks table from external sources.

Pasting Bar Codes, Task Types, Constraint Dates and WBS Path are now handled better by the ChainLink software (see new features).

An issue when importing Bar Types with a Bar Style of zero has now been resolved.

A new editing screen showing the Logic has been added, where Tasks and Links can be amended or deleted  (see new features)

An issue with the text position on Bar Group zero when Task has a zero duration has been resolved.

An issue with Library windows changing position when activated when multiple library windows displayed has been resolved.

Bar Codes Library

An issue with Bar Colour not updating correctly when set using Colours Library resolved.

Tasks

The row header cell is now visible on the Task Table which when clicked highlights a Task so it is posible to know which Task has been selected when scrolling the table horizontally. It can also be used for block allocation of certain data.

The Duration column has been retitled Planned Duration.

Two additional columns have been added to the end of the table to show Scheduled Duration for both Early and Late Dates and Actual Duration for completed Tasks. These may vary from the Planned Duration due to Shift Variation or Progress.

The Bar Type selection dialog now allows User Defined Bar Types and Emojis to be selected and allocated.

Both Predecessor and Successor Links can be added on the table using the Link to... or Link from... utilities of the popup menu.

Changes to the column widths are now saved and used next time ChainLink is loaded.

Task Details

The Links tab now shows Predecessor and Successor Links for standard Tasks or the Early and Late Links for Summary Tasks, which used to appear on the Schedule tab.

Links can be added manually or by use of the Link to.. or Link from... utilities of the popup menu.

Summary Tasks now require an Early Start and Finish Link and a Late Start and Finish Link as the start and finish Tasks for each Summary Task may be different to determine correct dates and durations for each situation.

When entering the Early Summary Links for the first time the Late Links are automatically set to the Early Links when entered and vice versa. These can be amended if required.

Calendars

The Calendar table now has an additional sheet for Shift Variance, which allows the standard Working Week shifts to be varied by a number of hours for each day of the year. The shift may be increased or decreased as desired by entering a positive or negative number.

Scheduler

The Scheduler has undergone a major rewrite to incorporate the new Shift Variance utility. When scheduling the project the addition/reduction in hours is taken into account and the Tasks durations decreased or increased accordingly depending on the percentage of the Task within the affected period.

Chart

Emojis can now be used for bars as well as Milestones on both the Time Location and Gant Charts. Text can only be shown on Milestones.

Issues with WBS grouping and dual schedules when plotting Gantt charts have been resolved.

Bar Types

An additional Bar Group 7 has been added to the  Bar Types Library which allows Users to add self-drawn or standard unicode Emojis for use with Milestone Tasks.

A High Voltage symbol has been added to Bar Group 5.

A minor issue with Time Axis Resource Graphs not appearing has been resolved.

Resolves an issue with the Title Block where the new Run Date was not being saved.

The Diagram feature has been extended to allow a Graphic or a Bar Type to be linked to a Task to generate the schematic Diagram.

An issue, which occurred when using the Text Chart facilty, where the new Date position of 'Text Only' data was not being saved has been resolved.

Graphics

Start and Finish Locations and C/L Offsets can now be entered with highest value as the start to allow for Descending Location Grid.

Import

An issue with Bar Types not being imported correctly when using the Primavera P6 Import utility has been corrected.

Chart

An issue with Resource Graphs, where the incorrect Resource Colours and Hatching were being used has been corrected.

An issue with left alignment of the Label text has been resolved.

Chart

Resolves an issue with Tasks of Bar Group 2 not plotting correctly when a descending Location Grid is selected.

Tasks

The Conflicts Detector utility has been improved to differentiate between different type of clashes.

A new utility has been added which allows the user to view a Task and any intercepting Tasks in a 3D window to determine if there is any conflict between the Tasks (see the New Features page for more details).

Tasks

A Conflicts Detector utility has been added which checks for conflicts between Tasks where more than one Task is scheduled to be carried out at the same time and same location, taking into account C/L Offsets and Safe Work Distance.

An issue with the Time element of Starts and Finishes being calculated incorrectly when Shift Times vary between days has been resolved.

Chart

An issue with the Dates appearing incorrectly when the MS Windows Short Date is set to d/m/yy has been resolved.

Settings - System

A Safe Work Distance field has been added to the System section of Settings, allowing the user to change the value for use by the Conflicts Detector.

Tasks

A change has been made to the operation of Bar Direction for Tasks which have a Bar Group of 2. By setting the Bar Direction to blank,  the full visible time and location 'span' of the Task, regardless of any time or location cropping due to the specified windows, is maintained on the Chart.

Libraries

A popup menu has now been added to the Codes, Types, Colours and Resources libraries which allows data to be Copied and Pasted into these libraries. The Paste function has 3 modes 'Replace',  'Update' or 'Add'

An issue with the row height not resizing when the font size is changed in the Codes, Types and Resources libraries has been resolved.

General

An option has been added to the View menu which restricts ChainLink to only using a single screen when a second screen is detected.

Improvements to loading Version 4.5 or 5.0 project files have been made.

Tasks

A schematic chart Diagram can now be produced from the Location and C/L Offset data together with bar type and colour data entered on a new Diagram tab in the Details pane.

An issue which set the Bar data to its defaults when pasting data into the Task table has been resolved.

Import

General improvements to the import utilities have been made.

The Schedule fields of the XER import are no longer pre-selected and locked, they can be changed by the user.

Chart

A new Steps feature has been added to the toolbar which allows the user to display the chart in period steps to show how the project progresses through time.

An additional pull-down menu and check box has been added to the Location Grid tab to allow the user to select how the Diagram is tro be produced and if text is to be shown on the Diagram.

Libraries

An issue with the Colours Library where a duplicate colour was being reported when no duplicate existed has been resolved.

Tasks

A Copy Task(s) facility has been added to the popup menu on the Tasks Table which copies a single or group of Tasks, in their entirety which includes User Fields, Links, Profile/Progress and Resources.

Graphics

C/L Offsets can now be specified for the Project Diagram, which allows any specified C/L Offset Window to be overlaid on the Diagram on the Chart.

Chart

An extra check box has been added to the Location Grid tab to allow the user to select if any specified C/L Offset Window will be shown overlaid on the Chart.

Libraries

An issue with the Types Library where the first type was not being found has been resolved.

An issue with the Types and Resources Libraries not printing correctly has been resolved.

Import

Issues with some imports running slowly since Resources were added has been resolved.

'Invalid Colour' messages are no longer reported, the colour is automatically set to White.

General

A minor issue which caused some temporary misalignment of columns when moving around the Tasks Table using the arrow keys has been resolved.

An issue with Calendars and Graphics not being transferred correctly when loading a Version 5.0 file has been resolved.

Tasks

The Chart Number column has been changed to On Chart allowing the user to specify that the Task appears on more than one chart but not all.

A Resources tab has been added to the Details pane allowing the user to allocate Resources to a Task.

Import

Resources can now be imported, using the XER and MPX import utility, to both the Project Resources Library and allocated to Tasks.

Chart

The appearance of the Gantt Charts has been enhanced by improving the layout of the Links and resolving an issue with the Grouping of Tasks.

On the Resource Diagrams it is now possible to show a Group of Resources as a stacked Area, Bar or Line graph rather than just a Single Resource. Also a Resource Diagrams Legend has been added.

Libraries

Personal and Project Resource Libraries have been added.

Location axis Resource Diagrams added.

Time axis Resource Diagrams improved.

Issue with Chart Diagram with descending Location Grid resolved.

Issue with Task Filter when selecting User Fields resolved.

Facility added to change the Chart Type in the Chart Layout Options, overiding the type set in the Layout.

Resolves some minor issues with the Gannt Chart Layout, Resource Diagrams and WBS Library.
