Celebrating 30 Years of ChainLink 

  Welcome to the home of ChainLink  the complete solution for Linear Project Planning


ChainLink  is desktop software (not cloud or browser based) capable of being installed on any computer running Microsoft Windows.


For three decades the ChainLink  family of software has provided a no frills add-on utility to produce quality Time Location (Time Chainage) charts quickly and easily with data from your current Project Management system.  

ChainLink 7 now takes over the baton and brings most of the features of previous versions together the following enhancements:-


1. No limit on the number of Predecessor or Successor Links allocated to each Task.

2. No limit on the number of Resources allocated to each Task.


3. A new Task Type of WBS Summary has been added.


4. Improved import of XER and MPX files.

5. Drag and Drop graphic files into the Tables, Chart Screens and other graphic data boxes.

6. New selection windows for allocating Bar Codes, Colours, Links and Resources, accessible from the popup Menus.

7. Colours can now be selected from the 100+ Microsoft Windows system colours as well as the Personal and Project Libraries.

8. When using the Link from... or Link to... functions, as well as selecting an existing Task, a new Task can be selected and created as the link.

9. The Logic screen, introduced in ChainLink 6, Release 16, has been vastly improved.

a. Scrolling forward or backward through the logic is now easier.
b. More of the Task and Link data can be amended.
c. Tasks can be added or deleted.
d. Predecessor and Successor Links can be added and deleted.

 e. Links to a New Tasks can be created by using the Link Selector window.


10. As a result of the above items it is now possible to create the Logic Diagram from scratch using the Logic screen.


11. A Dashboard has been added to ChainLink 7 which displays an analysis of the schedule of the currently loaded project.


The Dashboard comprises 6 charts and tables comprising:-


a. Logic Chart

b. Progress Chart

c. Short Term Gantt Chart

d. Start Dangles Table

e. Finish Dangles Table

f.  Critical Tasks Table


12. The View Menu has been expanded to allow the Dashboard or elements of the Dashboard to be hidden.


13.  An additional setting has been added to the System Settings to allow a Critical Float Value to be set for use by the Dashboard Short Term Gantt Chart and Critical Tasks Table.


14.  An additional feature has been added to the import module to allow which projects to be selected when importing a multi-project XER file, together with a select all facility on both the Select Projects and Import Options.


15.  When scrolling the Task Table horizontally the Task ID and Task Name columns are frozen and remain on the left of the screen for reference.

 

Unlike other Linear Planning software, such as Tilos TM , ChainLink has been designed to work with your existing Project Management software and not replace it, thus retaining all the time, effort and training that has been paid for over the years.  This third party add-on approach, designed by Planners for Planners, means that the ChainLink software is available at a competitive price, is simple to learn and easy to use.

 

The software is primarily designed to operate on a two screen display, with the Data on the main screen and the Chart on the second screen, however, it can be run quite successfully on a single screen.

 

All data, including graphics, is now held in a single project file making it easier to transfer projects between planners and computers.  Only special Layout files need to be transferred with the project file.  All diagrams, clipart and logos are already included.
